Building Trades, Walz to Highlight Helmets-to-Hardhats Program

Congressman Tim Walz will join with union leaders and rank-and-file members to kick off the 72nd annual Minnesota State Building Trades Convention in Duluth by highlighting the Helmets-to-Hardhats program. Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed July as “hire a veteran” month. The group will meet on Thursday, July 26th at 10:30am at the Northland Constructor’s Job Site, Superior Street Project, Southwest corner of 5th Avenue West. (Upper pavilion for the Duluth Public Library, across from the Radisson Hotel).

Joining Congressman Walz will be Carly Melin, executive director of MN State Building and Construction Trades Council, Justin Rost, Manager, Helmets to Hardhats, Jared Anderson, Veteran, Sheet Metal Workers and H2H participant, and Scott Kyrola, President Northland Constructors of Duluth, LLC.

Helmets-to-Hardhats connects National Guard, Reserve, retired and transitioning active-duty military service members with skilled training and quality career opportunities in the construction industry. The program is designed to help military service members successfully transition back into civilian life by offering them the means to secure a quality career in the construction industry.
