Robert Wilkens, husband and father, and a member of Ironworkers Local 512, died Wednesday afternoon, November 7 after a fall from a pedestrian bridge under construction in St. Louis Park, near the intersection of Ottawa Avenue and County Road 25. Police tried unsuccessfully to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a city news release.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the incident was most likely an accidental fall, said Nick Vranak, director of the safety and risk department for the city's contractor on the project, Edward Kraemer & Sons.

The accident remains under investigation.
